"Tink"
2004 Thoroughbred
filly
|
| Maia hadn't
actually expected to get her hands on a Thoroughbred
racer in Santa Clarita during November of 2005, but
when Tink strode into the ring, there was an immediate
attraction. As Georgia was quick to quip as Maia and
Danny loaded the new acquisition into the trailer; for
all the femininity that is associated with her - from
pink silks to an affinity for cupcakes - she is a
literal tank in build and stamina. She has incredibly
thick skin, a hearty neck (as anyone to pass too close
to her stall without giving her a treat will learn
quickly), a wide topline and thick, beefy legs and she
stands at all of 15.3 hands. For something that is so
heavy set and short, she has a very domineering
quality to her and speed that made the jaw of her
hostess - Quantum Bellamy - drop when, as we ran her
for the first time outside Saratoga, where she
barreled across the finish line, causing Maia to turn
with a grin and a stopwatch in hand. |
